Marshal

The Marshal (from an old Germanic word meaning "stable-master") is the commanding officer of the Imperial Armed Forces. He is appointed and dismissed by the Emperor.

The name of Marshal refers in Septempontia to a post, rather than a rank; any general officer may be appointed to fill the role. In civilian terms, the post of Marshal is equivalent in rank to that of a Minister; the Marshal is part of the Government and advises the Emperor and Chancellor on military affairs.
